Social Media | Even if you’ve never heard of Metcalf’s Law or the “network effect,” it’s likely you’re aware of the marketing opportunities presented by social networks and social media. And for good reason. The power of word-of-mouth and a personal endorsement were acknowledged long before keywords, or even fax machines, caught our fancy. But social media is more difficult to evaluate. What, for instance, is a “friend” worth? Likewise, how do we calculate the value of a “follower”? And, once we’ve got a bunch of them, what exactly do we do with them? | These are the right questions. | At One Degree, we embrace social media in all its incarnations, but also hold it to the same standards we do other media: it should have a strategic purpose, it must serve up relevant content suited to the audience and the environment, and it has to be both measurable and optimize-able based on marketing objectives. So, if you want more than friendship out of your social media program, please let us know.
